We walked the full 30 mins to Nagoya Castle the next day from our hotel at Hotel androoms Nagoya Sakae. Halfway through, we realized we should have juz rented the bicycles from the hotel lol~

Before reaching the castle, we came across this Zone Yoshinao area.

There’s 2 rows of eateries~

Most of the famous food in Nagoya are found here, including the miso tonkatsu we loved, gold foiled ice-cream etc. The best thing is, there’s hardly any crowd here!

Appearance timings of samurais & ninjas…

Having already been to Osaka Castle, the Nagoya Castle was rather underwhelming in comparison, and parts of the castle were under construction.

Finally caught a glimpse of the ninjas! They struck a pose for us to take pictures~

We took a bus back to Nagoya station~

Enjoyed a dorayaki!

Our lunch! The price is comparable to those in Singapore’s.

These are actually chocolate lipsticks! Yes! They are edible!

We got a crepe for dessert~

We then made our way to Nagashima Resort~ We took the train to Nagashima station and waited for the shuttle bus.

It’s about a 10-15 mins ride if I remembered correctly~

We paid for our tickets and went in. Surprisingly, there’s quite a lot of people~

There’s an area for snacks and meals~

This place somehow reminded me of Gardens by the Bay, lol~

There’s also cafes and restaurants~

It’s 10 degrees celcius but people were dipping their feet in the hot spring~

And… The illumination tunnel that prompted me to make the trip~ It’s very crowded though~

It’s quite a walk, partly cos of waiting for the crowd to move along, lol~

At the end of the tunnel, there’s a HUGE screen where you can view a very lengthy lightshow. It’s quite impressive up close~

There’s a 2nd illumination tunnel and it’s slightly less crowded here~

I find it infinitely more enjoyable when there’s no jostling crowds aiming to take their perfect selfie~

We headed back near the entrance for our late dinner~

Decent but expensive fare~ But well, it’s kinda expected in these settings!

Heading back to Meitetsu bus center (it’s next to Nagoya station) on bus, it’s about a 40 mins journey at 870 yen~

And that concludes our Nagoya trip!
