Since it’s our last day at Takayama, we didn’t really have any itinerary. This is the restaurant at Spa Alpina though we’ve never eaten there.

Walking down the streets one last time…

Although the town is not that big, it takes a mere 30-40 mins walk to get from the very east to west, but factoring in all the shops, it’s still quite a feat to cover everything. If you don’t wanna tire yourself out, I think 2 days is fairly sufficient to explore most of the places.

We made Takayama our base while we visit the nearby regions like Shirakawago and Okuhida, thus our actual time spent in Takayama was probably only about 1 1/2 days. There’s still so much to see~

This is Takumi-kan, which features a craft centre, hida furniture, cafe and Italian restaurant all in one building.

I was SO TEMPTED to buy one of these hedgehog pin cushions back sobs~ But I don’t even sew that much.

We visited the morning market again for some breakfast.

This is an egg mochi and it tasted surprisingly delicious! Quite affordable too~

Both of us thought that we should just get the famed hida beef sushi to see what’s all the fuss about.

This, my friend, costs about SG$6 per piece. Was it delicious? Yes. Worth the money? Honestly, not really.

We also tried some dango. I think the one I tasted at Nara was better.

We ventured into this part of the street which was nearly deserted…

There’s a tea house hidden in one of the alleys.

We tried the warm Hojicha milk tea (¥600). Wasn’t impressionable, but it was soothing in the cold.

Passed by my fav Kihachiro beef bun store again…

It’s a pity I didn’t want anything cold but there’s so much desserts selection.

We ordered a Takayama burger to take-away for the bus ride back to Nagoya.

Cute wagashi! It’s very expensive and I’m not really a wagashi person so we didn’t buy any.

Take note! Near this shrine, there’s an eatery called Kobishiya that sells super affordable home-cooked meals. (The shop sign is in Japanese though) It’s a very belated find!

I couldn’t believe we missed out this part of the street! I bought the sushi wrapped in magnolia leaf, fried chicken, and some rice balls the auntie recommended. I forgot to take the pics but I love how authentic it tasted. The price is a definite plus! I found this vid in Youtube, you can check it out to see how to get there!

We also got the local famous dessert- Pumpkin pudding from Le Midi~

Another 2.5 hrs and we’re back in Nagoya!

We took the train to the station nearest our next hotel- Hotel androoms Sakae. It’s a good 10 mins walk from the station.

I didn’t take a picture, but there’s bicycles outside the hotel that’s free for rent. I thought that’s really neat.

The underground malls are my favourite place to shop, but cos it’s winter, I have good reason to save my money, heh~

We got to Maruya Honten at 515pm for the unagi, there’s a short queue and we were in within 15 mins.

The funny thing is, by the time we were ready to go in, the queue was already so long it’s a 40 mins wait, phew!

The sets were about SG$35-40 each.

Although it’s nice, I honestly think we can find the same authentic taste in Singapore. I even liked the citrus soup better back home at Man Man Unagi. By the time we finished with the meal, the queue was already 3x longer than before.

We bought some bread for next day’s breakfast and I bought a piece of cake~

Spa time!

This was the complimentary hot spring offered at hotel androoms sakae. Dyson hairdryers free for use! Woohoo! And I’m so glad I tried it cos my friend was raving about it, but it didn’t dry up my hair in mere seconds like she said so I think I’m fine with my current Philips brand, haha~

The place was deserted. I guess it’s cos most guests weren’t back yet. We retreated quite early.

Dessert time! The packaging is sooooo classy but I thought it’s such a waste cos I couldn’t really recycle it after food touches the sides.

It’s pretty good! Next post, we visit the Nagashima Resort!
